These pouches are fat. Set one beside a slim Zyn or a slim independent and the size difference registers immediately. They sit thicker, they run drier, and for the first few minutes it is a piece of dry material parked on your gum rather than a working pouch. Ten years using these things, and I will say it plainly. The composition is the weakest thing about this brand.

JTI's other pouch line, on!, is the one it does sell into US stores through Altria, capped at 4mg and 8mg. Nordic Spirit is what JTI ships to every other country, designed without a 4mg starter cap in mind. Same tobacco major, two answers. One for America, one for everywhere else.

On our own shelf, Velo is the sharper comparison. Velo runs 4mg to 17mg, a ladder that will still fit you in five years. Nordic Spirit caps at 11mg on purpose and takes the ladder question off the table. Against Killa at 13.2mg or Pablo at 30mg there is no contest.

Verdict. Zyn if you want the counter default. Velo if you want the dial. Nordic Spirit if you want the choice made for you, at a strength Zyn does not reach.

Nordic Spirit asks almost nothing of you. One exception, and it is timing.

Here is the honest part. Nordic Spirit is not sold in American stores and that is not a stocking decision. JTI has no FDA marketing authorization for its pouch line here, so the brand has no route onto a gas station counter. Only Zyn and on! PLUS have cleared that bar. That is why your corner store pouch wall looks the way it does.

What makes it odd is that JTI is not new to America. It sells cigarettes here through its US arm and vapes here through Logic. It owns the distribution to move both. It has simply never brought its pouch.

Which is the whole reason to buy it online. On Haypp's 2024 numbers Nordic Spirit sat second only to Velo across Britain's two largest online sellers. That is a serious mainstream pouch line America has never been offered on a shelf. We hold all eight flavors across the 6mg to 11mg spread and turn stock fast. Freshness matters more with a dry pouch than a moist one.
